5/5 -

Service this morning. Mrs. Strobel finished (a) 'Palace Walk' within two weeks. I have really grown to appreciate her genuine friendliness and sweetness.

We phone tracted afterwards and then headed over to Penny's. She still is leary of (b) Joseph Smith.

We challenged and committed her to study it out in her mind and pray (c) (D&C 9) and a (d) date of May 29 to prepare, which she is doing.

Debbie Hirner confessed that her 19-year old Missy wants to wait for me. I was surprised. Hmmm....

And we taught Mrs. Meyers, a woman (Catholic) over in the same neighborhood. She was open-minded, but not entirely interested.

Sister Hanosek came from the church, having missed us on her her way there, to correlation, which was quick and smooth, all except for our chat with the Peckitts.

************************

(a) Palace Walk is a book I read over the summer of my junior year in high school for an A.P. Literature class. I must have known this person Mrs. Strobel was reading it or something. This does not ring a bell. Excellent book by Naguib Mahfouz, in case you are interested!

(b) Joseph Smith is the person who restored the original Church of Jesus Christ back onto the during, under the direction of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. The illustration depicts "the First Vision" which occurred in the Spring of 1820 when Joseph was just 14-years old.

(c) D&C Section 9:8 reads:  But, behold, I say unto you, that you must astudy it out in yourbmind; then you must cask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your dbosom shall eburn within you; therefore, you shall ffeel that it is right.

(d) The "date" refers to a baptismal date which we typically wanted to set as a tangible goal with our investigators early on in the discussions.
