June 27, 1994

6/27 -

Joseph Smith was martyred this afternoon 150 years ago. We drove our bikes clear into the Villas to visit some less-active, part member and FBS people. We ended up at the Hinsdale home for an hour. There we talked with the family.

A tornado watch was in the area on a most blustery day. Never happened.

We visited Sister Olsen. Then came home to hear Pres. Morley's voice on our messages. We caught up with him and apparently Elder Powell wrote in that during our discussion at Alice Hand's, I was winking at her daughter. Pres. told me to read the last verse in Mosiah 4 and to basically cut it out. Now I know that this is a weakness of mine and I truly need to plead with the Lord to forgive, but that, I do not feel was reason to mention to Pres. He could have told me. Ugh! So I apologized.

Then we tracted for a good while until Ron & his wife Tina let us in. They love the Lord and have come a long way in life.

They are opening a mini-mart tomorrow and so we taught a spirited first half of the first discussion before they had to go for final preparations.

Then we got into a seemingly pointless argument with a Baptist on his front porch, who contradicted himself repeatedly with faith in the Lord & works, the Godhead. His wife entered the room and said, "J-S-S, slam the d--n door!" I retorted, "For as Christian as you claim to be, to have your wife come here and say His name in vain. That is very Christlike." We left. I was enraged. No spirit at all. I can overcome my weakness. Do it!
