Happy Halloween 2009!

We kicked off the Halloween weekend on Friday night with a family activity at Golfland. Claire took top honors with the golf. I was all over the map leaving dents in windmills and divots all over the place. Typically, you aren't supposed to have to break out the chipping wedge or putter at the pee-wee golf course. Ugh. Will had a blast and Grace, as you'll see, was simply out. The kids took a pumpkin on the way home. It was fun to spend time together on Friday night.

On Saturday morning, Claire and I drove down to my brother Casey's home in Milpitas to help him move. He and his wife bought a place across town and yesterday was their final day to be moved. He had plenty of help from the ward they attend and we got the last U-Haul load done by 1pm. Their new place is beautiful!

For Halloween night, we had a fabulous time partying at our ward's Trunk or Treat activity. Kari and Will were chefs. Claire was a cheerleader. I got dressed up as a missionary. It felt pretty cool to once again put on my name tag and I was actually able to do some proselyting which is basically the point of any church activity. It was just a fun way to be able to do it. Most people had their games to play. In the trunk of our car I had church DVDs and a Book of Mormon along with our candy. Several visitors mistook me for an actual missionary, and I got a nice photo with the two sister missionaries in our ward. Inside the party, Claire won a few rounds of the cake walk and got her face painted. We enjoyed various salads and a potato bar in the cultural hall.

After helping to clean up the cultural hall and putting away chairs, tables, and vacuuming, I joined Kari and the kids, as well as some friends from the ward and their kids, and Kari's parents, for trick-or-treating in town. We made a loop through the neighborhood for about an hour. "Happy trick-or-treating!" Will would shout as he left every porch. His chef's costume was totally adorable. He has the trick-or-treating routine down. He carried his candy-filled Jeff Gordon helmet and walked in the night for that hour without a complaint. Halloween has a new convert.

We hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend, and now the downhill slide to Christmas and the new year begins!
