August 10, 1994

8/10 - Bill Candell drove Elders Wilson, Rumsey and us via the Birds to Philly. We got our SEPTA day passes and then video recorded the Museum of Art and statue of George Washington.

We met Sid, Browning, V, Bailey, and Lee and Tom (2 guys from Linwood) at the Franklin Inst. and took pix before we saw everything in there including Grand Canyon, a movie on a screen 4-stories high and 79' feet wide.

Then we visited the Planetarium before lunch. I bought a cheesesteak from a sidewalk vendor. Not bad. ($3.60)

(After that we saw the LOVE sign.)

We went to Liberty Bell / Independence Hall after that. Real neat.

(Plus, I forgot, we walked down South St. which is like Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley.)

We all got day passes and then went to City Hall. On our way down the elevator, we were 9 of us with one cute lady. We laughed. It was packed.

Then to a guided tour of the beautiful Mason Temple. I bought a $2 lapel pin. The tour guide had to field many questions. He was cool about it.

Then the large Gallery mall where Bailey, V, Browning, etc. and us split up. We looked around at shops before I had some Burger King. Wilson, Rumsey and us talked a lot. It was good to finally get to know them.

We walked down Penns Landing and saw an old Navy submarine (USS Becuna) and other ships.

Then we hopped a subway to the Spectrum and Vet .....

..... and while taking pix of the Rocky statue, .....

...... a cop in a Chevy Blazer gave us 4 free tix to Phila. Bulldogs / Florida roller hockey game. Real cool!

We saw the 1st half, plus Powell took a picture of Wilson and I with 2 cheerleaders. Wild!

Bishop + Sister Montgomery from Linwood drove us to Birds. Hinsdales drove us to Candells. We came home. I showered and then went to bed. Great day!
