April 27, 1994

Got our laundry done this morning. I went to NABI Bio-Medical Center and gave plasma. My arm still kind of hurts. Got me $15.00.

Played hoops with Rupp/Udy and Browning/Dickey at the church after plasma. Very exhausting, but fun. We had to get Elder Udy some sugar because of his diabetic condition. His level which is supposed to be at 100 was down to 45. Whoa!

Went to Save-A-Lot shopping. Got tons of food.

Ate pig heart on splits with Elder Taylor at a D/A. We watched a Spanish soap opera. I feel sick.

Plus I made Devil's Food Cake!

Very muggy and hot!! Sooo, air conditioner goes on tonight.

Gledhill/Holcomb taught the Peckitts a fifth. No joint again. Aaaaaggghhh!

Wrote plenty of letters but received none today because of the recent death of former U.S. Pres. Richard Nixon who had a stroke and was in a coma.

A fairly good day. Later!

What I remember about the basketball activity after the plasma donation is that it was not a very smart idea. Elder Udy started to get very quiet and it hit us very quickly that he was going to start having a seizure or something. First of all we went to the kitchen in the church to see what we could get Udy in terms of sugar. A couple of elders bolted to the parking lot and headed out to 7/11 or something to grab a drink and some food. All we ended up finding in the kitchen was a bottle of syrup which Udy proceeded to guzzle. That seemed to tide him over until the elders returned with the food and drink. My memory gets kind of hazy from there.

The pig heart dinner is a classic story I remember. We used to give the Span-Ams a tough time about all of our delicious dinner appointments. To get us back they used the split with Elder Holcomb and me. I was not told it was pig heart in the stew until after I had muscled most of it down. I was a little suspicious but being a gracious guest, I tried it.

Once I learned it was pig heart I was a bit nervous as to what dessert might be. The sister brought out plantain or some kind of banana deal. I waited for her to go back into the kitchen and my companion went to the restroom to spring into action. I put the banana into Taylor's backpack. We found out after reuniting that night when the Span-Ams called our apartment that they found it. What a deal. We were much quieter about the D/As after that, needless to say.

As for baking, I vaguely remember the devil's food cake, other than to say that I do remember making a cake. It might have turned out all right. That's a bit fuzzy.
