Rainbow Bright!

The rain finally started falling for a change. We had a wet Sunday and a wet Monday today. I took the kiddos out for a little Presidents Day trip to Toys R Us. We also picked up the Valentine's Day treats my students brought to me that I had left in my classroom. Our main goal was to get out of the house so that Kari could get some much-needed rest. She's been battling yet another cold; her fourth in two months! Let's hope she shakes this one for good.

On a side note, I swallowed my tooth yesterday. Not sure I will ever comprehend that one. I took a bite out of a cinnamon bear gummy candy and I guess my tooth went down with the candy. I only realized it a few moments after it happened when I felt a missing tooth with my tongue. No sign of it yet. (Can't say that I'm eager to look for it at this point.) But I swallowed my tooth.

Turns out Will had another bout with the Roseola virus. This was the same illness he got from Claire a day or two after he was born. I guess you don't get the same strain of it twice, but a rash appeared on his chest and stomach on Saturday night after his bath and the doctor determined on Sunday morning that Misters had the Roseola virus. Hope there aren't any other strains waiting to surface. To make things worse, Misters has been having serious growing pains lately and a cough.

Claire just overcame strep throat last weekend. As you can see, we're just a bundle of joy over here. But just when you think things cannot possibly get worse, the Lord in His infinite mercy and kindness gave us a sign today that brighter days are ahead. As I drove home earlier this afternoon with Claire and Will in the backseat, I noticed a rainbow off of the little two-lane highway and both Will and Claire were in awe. But it disappeared from view quickly as the sun broke through the clouds and we were unable to get a longer look.

Then, tonight, as I picked up dinner from Round Table with Will, my sweet little boy yelled, "Rainbow!" I couldn't see it at first, and I thought he was recalling the rainbow from our earlier trip home. But as I turned the corner onto our street, I could see the brightest, most glorious rainbow I've seen in a long time. See for yourself!

When we exited the car, Will and I just about ran to the kitchen door. We got Claire's attention and she forgot to open the door for us in her excitement looking at the colorful rainbow. Once we got inside, I called upstairs for Kari to look out the bathroom window and look in the sky. I heard the excitement in her voice as she commented on the rainbow.

There really is a feeling of renewal and excitement when a rainbow appears. To me, rainbows truly are a sign of peace and happiness from the Man Upstairs, so to speak.

Throughout the past couple of weeks, I've been stressing that we want to try and keep a positive attitude. There are so many things we cannot control. But we can choose to have a good attitude. It has been hard in light of the many physical challenges we've been dealing with; Kari, particularly. But I know that this little sign today reminded me that the Good Lord cares about us and that we will all be back in great shape real soon!

I love you, Kari. Get well soon!

Alex
