Papa John's Pizza - Next!

If there is one thing you need to know about our family, it's that we love pizza! And living in the Bay Area, we are spoiled with the best pizza anywhere! We've got the New York style with Amici's. We've got that Italian style with the Guinness World Record pizza tossing Tony Gemignani and Pyzano's Pizzeria. For the deep dish lover, there is none better than Zachary's Pizza on Solano Ave in Albany. The chains are here too, with Round Table probably atop the list, with your garden variety places like Little Caesar's, Pizza Hut, and Domino's. And what mall doesn't offer a slice of Sbarro's? If you're in Beserkley you've got to make a pit stop at either Fat Slice (my favorite) or Blondie's. And the list goes on and on. We have tried them all!

All, that is, until tonight. On my way home from the chiropractor (Pinnacle Chiropractic - Dr. Glenn Wong - Dublin - love it) recently I noticed a Papa John's restaurant near the highway. I told Kari that the next time (tonight) I would pick us up some dinner so we could try it out. We got the basic pepperoni pizza, and to give it a fair shake, we got the Hawaiian.

The kids were excited to have pizza for dinner, although Will seems to have been conflicted. I wasn't sure what to make of his reaction to it. Whether or not he liked it, he certainly looked like he had a decent time eating it!

The pizza comes with garlic butter, strangely. That was a first. And a jalapeƱo pepper. Huh?!? I'm still scratching my head on that one. Interesting garnish.

I actually thought the pizza tasted pretty good. The crust was soft and tasty. The pizza was greasy as it is, and with a little drop of the garlic butter, difficult to hang onto, not to mention hard to keep from dripping all over your face. So, I'm not sure I'm ready to crown it the best pizza of the year like the sticker on the door to the restaurant. And for like the past 10 years or so. But I'd say it tasted all right.

Kari said it tasted like Little Caesar's. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. More than one Facebook friend weighed in the same way as Kari.

I'm not sure my trips to the chiropractor are going to necessitate any detours on the way home to pick up any pizza from this point forward. At least not Papa John's.

first of all will is so stinkin' cute, love his little voice!
papa john's is a fave of ours out here, the garlic butter should be used exclusively to dip your crust in at the end of eating the pizza part. I like to bite off the tip of the pepper and drip some of the spicy juice onto my slice, adds a little kick. don't give up on Papa...:)
