Oct 18th - We got our phone contacts this morning again. I scheduled a return with a Media referral, Michelle, in Courthouse.
This afternoon we stopped by John, the "Gas Man at the Corner" and he gave us a free soda. He says he is still reading. He's cool!
Then we tracted Ridgewood again and also looked out on the Bay. We tracted up at Carolina Ave. and taught Clint Walker's step-sister-in-law. Her husband came roaring home from work and brought our 00 to a screaming halt!
Ronnie Jett dropped off a ton of groceries and dinner the same time almost that "Brown Santa" dropped off a package from Grandma! We were so excited! This Branch has really helped us out this week more than ever!
Tonight we got haircuts down on Bay Shore Rd. The girl, (23) her name was Jill. She really liked us and our ideas. We taught her a 00, too. She put waves in my hair, kind of like a perm. "I now have control. I look decent," I kept saying. It was cool!
From there, we drove to Jim Kessler's. He cashed my check ($20) I so graciously received from Reta Hall today.
I called us Pres. Adams about using the church tomorrow. We talked about the Shims, Neutermans, and this area. He's proud of me and wanted me to understand that I will never know the effect I have had on this area. I almost cried. I just feel like a failure here. But how do you judge success, Elder McMurray?
We came home and I called Edward Shim and we are scheduled for Sunday night at 7:30pm! Rogers and I talked for a long time.
I left a messaage on Garner's machine today. The key, I feel, to keeping Rogers' spirits up is simply to work. Just ask Pres. Benson how to avoid homesickness: "Work, work, work!"
And the Branch's support with meals has also brightened Rogers' spirits, too. He's doing OK. We laugh a lot together.
I received new shoes (verrrry nice) from Mason today and a wristwatch from Grandma, plus the ltter and check from Reta Hall, the Campbells wrote, and UPS. So, it was an OK day. Night!
