Oct 28th - We drove over to Al Ruthenbeck's this morning and he took us up into Petersburg for District Meeting. Rogers gave the spiritual thought out of D&C 6:29-31 and Elder Bailey had a basketball skills game. Elder Mooy gave a workshop on unity, and we were treated to a nice liunch afterwards by the Birds' housekeeper.
Al, Rogers and I drove by C&C Deli, but Joi wasn't in yet. So we went back to Al's home. He showd us the wind chimes he made and gave us two bags full of groceries. That was cool.
Rogers' parents sent him a package. He was excited. Grandma T. wrote to me.
We again tracted in the Villas and did so for 3 hours and 51 contacts, plus we taught two 00's: one to a man fixing his car and another to a lady out in her yard (but a bee stung her finger, which abruptly ended our conversation). Then we were invited into Kathy's home. Her two kids played and her husband went into the bedroom as we went into a 00 and then a 1st. (The Catholic Minister whacked her boy on the rear with a paddle, which keeps her still from every going back to church.) She loved the discussion and her eyes swelled with tears as she listened to the words of the Prophet Joseph. We left in order to let her prepare to leave for her engagement. We scheduled to stop by tomorrow morning.
We called Judy Buckley when we got home. She is close to Kathy. And from I heard, kathy was into devil-worshipping cults, and tarot-card-reading and still feels evil presences. Yikes.
Anyhow, we invited Kathy out to the Barn Dance. And ... she came!!! Plus, she wanted to know if Elder Rogers and I would bless her baby. Of course.
So, off we went to the Trunk-or-Treat, initially; and then the chili dinner; dance. We talked with the DeFeo girls, Judy, and of course all the Neutermans were there! Mike was there, too, and he just expressed how important it was for him to have his children understand what they are doing before they are baptized. And he won't be in town on Nov. 13th, so we may have to reschedule for the following Wednesday night. We got a phone call at the church, too. I picked it up and answered the questions of a lady, Sally, who seemed quite interested in the church. I gave her our number.
Rogers' parents called him and talked. I talked to them, too. They are glad he is feeling better about his mission. I am, too. Good night!
