January 14, 1995

OK, whew! I finally have time to write. Today was one of the best days on my mission. Rach, Shannon, and Holly called at 4am (P.S.T.) and 7am here. Wild. Talked for a little bit with them. They're sweet!

Then ... Garlick and I got serious. We did comp study and had quite a planning meeting. We headed out to the new apartment to look through it. Nice. We'll have the Zone Leaders come look at it.

We then went to an area to drop by Bill Hirst and family. He was tracted out and even came to church last week. He was real busy helping his boys.

Just before his house, we knocked on the door of a man named Rudolph. There we asked about Bill and as it turned out he was reading a book about the history of England. So I mentioned a book of the history of our continent and we had quite a discussion. He accepted the Book of Mormon.

This afternoon we prayerfully selected a place to tract. Our first door was a part-member family: the Guckens. He's a Eucharistic Minister; she's L.D.S. We laughed. She thought I was funny. A great visit. She even gave me bedsheets.

Then we knocked on a few more doors. We asked trivia questions between. We finally met a lady named Kay Perry and she, too, accepted a copy of the Book of Mormon.

Then we rushed home to get a picture to bring to the church. The Sisters' baptism of Lisa Kramer was this evening. We nicked the bottom of the picture with a dart. But, we told them what happened. It was a beautiful service.

We went to McDonald's and had dinner there. We met one of the employees - Nicole Kehoe. She's very inactive, but local. So we'll call her this week.

Then ... as we were eating, a lady and her son were staring at us until finally we asked them who they were. They noticed my comp.'s name tag because their last name is Garlick, too! So we talked with them right there. Apparently they are very engrossed in a family history project. They have genealogy done for about 250  years back. We set up a Tuesday morning appointment with them.

We then drove by to meet Sister Roach and while we told her about our great experience, Sister Barclay showed up to drop off a child. So we all talked.

Then, we left to Seth's home. He was out. So we wrote a note. Seth Mattox is the investigator here. He's 16; lots of problems.

Bill Hirst was on our messages when we got home asking for an "abridged verison" of the B of Mormon. So I grabbed the BofM Reader, and we drove to his house to give it to him.

And he led us around his house tonight. He has all kinds of things kept in barns, sheds. He has a lot of everything. It's neat.

We finally did crash tonight after I collected numbers. Good night!
