April 17th - Apparently, last week Elders Olsen and Crapo, in Quakertown, got burned by oil as they were trying to deep fry some chicken. They drove themselves to the hospital. They were in the Burn Unit of the hospital. I feel awful for them. Just awful.
I got my District Newsletter UNITY, typed up this morning at Graeme's.
And after a Burger King lunch, we drove back down Curley Hill Rd and did some finding there.
We were invited to teach Kris. She was watching her 2 children and 2 neighbor children. So we taught her at an outside table. She said she'd tell her husband about our discussion. We'll call her the middle of the week.
We then visited Sister Myers. She was studying to be a minister in her church: The Reformed Church of America. And she came in contact with LDS elders as she began to have unresolved biblical concerns: The Fall, infant baptism, etc. So she met with the elders one evening, and a bright light enveloped everyone in the room. She felt a beckoning to come forward as she was given the baptismal challenge. Her eyes and the elders were filled with tears. "Do you know what you're asking me to do?" she asked the elder. "Yes," he replied.
So she had to sit in front of a panel of 9 prominent ministers who meticulously tried to destroy her new testimony. What a horrible experience. "Her Gethsemane," Elder Taylor said.
She has since served a mission to Germany and also worked 3 years at the Salt Lake Temple. What a powerful conversion story. We gave her the 10-step list challenge. She has a friend to invite to the church activity on Friday.
We were given dinner to take home and then headed to the Taylor's home. There we reintroduced the Ten Step Program.
We ate dinner, and then drove to Bob Stokly's home. He has really had some supernatural events. He claims he may now have seen Joseph Smith in a vision. Wow. We planned a second discussion for Thursday night.
So then we visited Rose Decker briefly. She had a sore throat and so we had a conversation with her about 15 minutes or so. She works a lot. No testimony, although she claims to have one. Perhaps. But we need to get her to come to church.
Long Monday. Good night!
