Feb. 11th - I felt that today was very transforming. We were truly led by the Spirit today. We began by following up on a media referral, Harry Zimmerman. He was home. I gave him a copy of the Book of Mormon. He really expressed no desire to want us back. At least he has the book.
We then went to McDonald's for lunch and talked to Nicole Kehoe. She asked for the address to church. I mapped it out for her. She says she wants to come!
We tracted out a real nice neighborhood. And afterwards, wondering if our area would even ripen, we felt as if we could best spend our evening would be by attending the local Catholic church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel. I remember St. Aloysius in Pottstown that E. Gray and I attended.
We arrived at Mass 20 minutes late and the usher invited us to stand against the wall or look for a seat. We stood. Then we were invited up to the balcony.
That is where, after Mass, we were able to speak with Donald Tillard; introduced as a nationally famous composer. He was extremely polite and we introduced ourselves as L.D.S. missionaries.
He told us about the organ set up and even mentioned his conversion story to the Academy of New Jerusalem. He read a book "Heaven or Hell" authored by the church's founder, Mr. Swedenborg. I told him about the BofM which helped me understand the purpose of life and its translator, who also intially did not intend on beginning a church; Joseph Smith.
Donald received a BofM from the elders nearly 20 years ago. He said he figures God send people to you when you are ready for the next level of understanding. He did say that he hoped to meet us again. We'll have to do that.
So we were very excited about Don and finally about the area as we had, perhaps a glance at what could be success!
Amy Clay treated us to ice cream in her cafe, "Coffee'n Cream" tonight. She's sweet.
Good night.
